| Week One 5/9/2002 |
Didnt make it out for this night.
|
| Week Two 5/16/2002 |
Our first night out, winds sw 15-18, seas 1-2 feet, partly
to mostly cloudy. Crew was Bob, Donny, Al, Mark, Mike, Bill, Walt,
Rich, and Jeff. Race committe was Brendan and John, nice course guys,
ESEDWN. We had a good start, but to leeward of the Mumm36 who almost
immediately rolled us dropping us back a few boat lengths. This put
us in place with the Tarten Ten whom we tangled with the whole night.
A couple times we got out in front of him but sail misshandling at
the turns slowed us down and let him back in. (sorry guys, but I can't
not mention this) He then missed a mark of the course so he didnt really
finish the race. Fun night anyway, we need to get some practice in!
|
| Week Three 5/23/2002 |
Course was DWNEN, conditions were winds sw 12-15, waves
1-2 ft. The crew this week was Mark, Bill, Al, Rich, Bob, and Jeff,
and race committee was Phil and crew. We had a good line on the start,
but a couple seconds early, and with the Cal40 to leeward we got forced
over early. Oh well, being a Thursday, we kept going, sometimes youre
the forcer, sometimes the forcee. We sailed a fair race, trailed the
Cal40 the whole night, had one chance to take him but just didnt have
the legs. With the winds at 18-20 apparent, we flew the #3 again, while
the rest of the fleet had a little more sail area up, we also broke
the outhaul. Nice night anyway.

| Week Four 5/30/2002 |
I hate nights like this one. Wind fades during the hour
preceding leaving the dock, we end up drifting around with just enough
boat speed to get a start off (a lousy one on our part), we creep three
quarters the way to the first windward mark and the wind goes out,
current takes over. We end up pointing down course the wrong way. We
all sat there for a half hour or so, then the boats start dropping
out. We didnt wait around too long, it was beer-thirty! Bar ho. Nice
night to drift about. Crew: Shaun, Rich, Mark, Alyce, Don, Al, Bill,
Jeff, course: DWN2 ended before first D, conditions: wind sw 0-3, flat
water.

Week Seven 6/20/2002
|
It's amazing how slow this boat goes in lighter breeze when it has
a dirty bottm. we were dfl by the second mark. This night was MBW party
night, so we didnt even round the third mark. first boat to the party!
A good time was had by all, I cooked. Crew Dorothy, David, Alyce, Mark,
Al, Rich, Bill, Walt, 2?, Jeff Wind SSW 4-6.
|
| Week Ten 7/11/2002 |
Crew: Janice, Bill, Alyce, Mark, Don, Al, Rich, Walt, Jeff Course
NDWNEWS, Wind WNW 8-10. Decent night, sailed our new #2 for the first
time. Winds were up early, so this was a pretty good sail to use. However
it faded some as the night went on, but the sail kept us moving pretty
well anyway. We had a crummy start, near the back of the fleet at the
gun, so we spent the first few legs working our way thru the slower
boats. The last few legs we caught and passed several of the faster
boats, and finished just behind the NY40. The new sail worked great.
|
| Week Eleven 7/18/2002 |
Crew: Mike, Mark, Bill, Al, Don, Jeff DWSDS Wind WSW 8-10. Great
night overall after we got thru the start.. We unrolled the #1 at the
beginning of our starting sequence, and found the shackle opened at
the masthead, so the headsail dropped to the deck, 4 min to go. I could
hear the laughs from the boats going by. We got the spare jib halyard
on and the sail hoisted by the prep signal, and crossed the line on
port taking the transoms of the entire fleet as they crossed the line
in a pack. This got us into clear air and to the right side of the
fleet right away, which got us to the first mark just behind the fast
boats. The rest of the race we spent getting by the big Tartan and
stretching out on them and the Pearson Flyer. The NY40 who had a worse
start than we did finally got by us at the last mark rounding, we hung
on her transom a few lengths back for the last leg and followed her
across the finish line. Fun night, crew work was very good this night.
|
| Week Twelve 7/25/2002 |
Crew Alyce, Mark, Mike, Bill, Al, Rich, Don, Jeff. Course WDSWS.
Wind SE 6-8. Fair start, ok first leg (watched the big Tartan go aground
too close to Welches Pt.), put myself into a bad position on the approach
to the first mark. Got stuffed twice from there to the rounding, and
wasnt able to make up. Allowed the J27 to slip by on some slow sail
handling, and the frustration built from there. Sorry crew for the
for the pressure from the helm. Of course a three week dirty bottom
isnt helping our cause. Nice night to be on the water, much more pleasent
than ashore.
|
| Week Thirteen 8/1/2002 |
Race Committee. conditions wind se 5 lightening to calm. course wsd(e)ws.
|
| Week Fourteen 8/8/2002 |
Conditions wind N 5-8, course NDWSES. Crew Dorothy, David, Mark,
Al, Rich, Don, Jeff Started out pretty good, decent start, trailing
the fast pack, but as the wind lightened, we started going slower,
dirty bottom still. Cleaning was supposed to be before this night,
but havent seen the diver.
|
| Week Fifteen 8/15/2002 |
Crew Alyce, Mark, Don, Mike, Rich, Jeff. Course DPNDS. Conditions
wind SW 8-10. Mediocre start, mid-back of fleet, boat was sluggish
(still no visit from the diver), sailed with the "dirty bottom" group.
The course was long this night, as we approached N, I was voted out
on continuing, so we retired (it must have been beer-thirty).
|
| Week Nineteen 9/12/2002 |
Crew Mike, Mark, Don, and Jeff, Conditions NW 5 flat water, Course
NDWS. Still uncleaned bottom, we sailed upwind ok, but going off the
wind the boat is a slug when dirty. We trailed the whole fleet by the
second mark. The wind lightened even more on the third leg, and as
the daylight faded we dropped the sails and motored home. Still a pleasent
night on the water.
|
| Week Twenty 9/19/2002 |
Crew Rob, Mike, Rich, Mark, and Jeff, Conditions SW 10-12 seas 1-2
feet, Course DWNES. Finally got the bottom cleaned in preperation for
Saturday's race, made a huge difference in our performance this night.
Most boats were late for the start with it being a half hour earlier
for the late season, we did manage to get to the line for the gun.
Sailed well and finished in good company. Finally a good night!
